Alastair Cook and man of the match James Tredwell were both happy men after England's tense nine-run victory in the first ODI in Rajkot.

After Ian Bell top-scored with 85 to set India 326, off-spinner Tredwell took four of the Indian top five but it was not until Jade Dernbach took two wickets in an over that England could relax.

The two teams move on to Kochi for the second one-dayer which takes place on 15 January.
