England beat Sri Lanka by 110 runs under D/L method at the Kia Oval after the hosts posted 229-8 and Sri Lanka could only manage 121 all out in reply. New skipper Alastair Cook lost the toss and only made five, but Craig Kieswetter (61) and Eoin Morgan (45) helped England to a competitive total.

 

Sri Lanka in reply were poor, not helped by the conditions which had reduced the match to a 32 over affair and set 232 (D/L) to win the tourists were 6-2 and then 15-4, Jayasuriya claiming a wicket in his final appearance but only two runs. James Anderson was on fire taking 4-18 off five overs and two catches as well, the Lancashire quick claimed the Man of the Match award. Malinga (26) and Randiv (24) added 52 for the ninth wicket but it was much too late, Swann tidying up the tail with 3-18 while Jade Dernbach picked up two wickets on debut and Tim Bresnan also chipped in on his return.
