Alastair Cook says losing Kevin Pietersen to a knee injury is a major setback ahead of the deciding Test in Auckland.

Pietersen will fly home for a period of rehab ahead of a busy summer which includes the Champions Trophy and Investec Ashes.

Pietersen's injury means another chance for Jonny Bairstow who will play in Auckland.
