The 2006 NatWest OSCAs (Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards) were held on Monday October 2 at Lord's Cricket Ground. Andrew Monk introduced the nominees and unveiled the winners before a packed audience of volunteers and many others from within the game. ECB chief executive David Collier made the final address at the end of ceremony.
The Building Partnerships category, which is open to the nominations of a volunteer who has created sustainable partnerships with schools, voluntary organisations, other sports and/or the local community, was awarded to Gary Pike from Lancashire for his initiatives in providing cricket to a wider spectrum of youngsters.
Paul Wooster of Lincolnshire was awarded the Another Way Award; William Murphy, from Essex, was the winner of the Young Volunteer Award.
The Leagues and Boards Award is given to a volunteer who is active at local league, County Board or County age-group levels and this year it was won by Michael Wood from Hertfordshire.
Behind the Scenes is awarded to a volunteer who is invisible, but vital. This year's winner was Pat Tremain from Essex for her accomplishments within the club.
The Lifetime Achiever category was won by Alan Vollans of Yorkshire for his involvement in building partnerships with the local community, schools and within the club itself. Alan, who was unable to attend the ceremony, has been integral in key projects, is head groundsman, coaches, chairs the committee and continues to play cricket at the age of 67!
The NatWest CricketForce 2006 award went to Shotley Bridge Cricket Club who made improvements to their ground totalling more than £10,000.
